Have you noticed in your linkedin feed that there are 2 categories of posts:

1) the many, many posts in your feed that have 1,2,3 or 0 comments or likes (and if you could see the views, very few)?

Maybe you’ve noticed in your own posts . . . most of your posts get less than 100 views . . while others go to 1000 or more views?

2) a very occasional post gets 100s or 1000s of views and comments

I’ve done some testing on my own posts . . .

If I just post the post . . . . it gets a small amount of views and comments

But  . .

If I boost the post by sending it to my network of fans (like on email), and get even a handful of views  . . .

the view count multiplies . . .

I do this immediately after I write the post . . .

like immediately . .

here’s how I do it:

I write the post

Then I write an email to send my list

THEN I publish the post

then immediately transfer the url of the post to the email that’s already written and ready to send

so that the email is sent within 2 minutes or so of publishing the post

So I’m boosting the post

the li algorithm can see an initial burst of views

and I personally believe that spurs linkedin to then open my post to more views by other people in my linkedin network (and even outside of it)

And there’s one more thing I do:

I add a call to action to the post to give folks a REASON to comment

I also believe that posts that get comments, get more exposure on linkedin

If you want see a post where I’ve done this (you can read the comments):
